1. Who we are

IGLOO DIRECT LTD (“IGLOO Direct”, “we”, “us”) is the data controller for personal information collected through this website (protectyourigloo.co.uk).

2. What we collect and why

When you request a repair or send an enquiry (the forms on this site): your name, phone number, email address, postcode, appliance details, and the description you give us.
Why: to call you back, price the job, and arrange your repair.
Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).

When you set up an Igloo Service Contract Plus plan: your Direct Debit set-up is handled by our payment provider, GoCardless, on their secure pages. They collect your name, email address and bank details. We never see or store your bank details. We receive confirmation of your mandate and subscription, and we record which partner engineer referred you (the partner code from the QR code you scanned).
Why: to provide your plan, collect payment, and credit the referring engineer.
Legal basis: performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)); legitimate interests for referral attribution (Article 6(1)(f)).

When you use this website: our hosting provider logs technical data (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) in standard server logs.
Why: security, fraud prevention, and keeping the site working.
Legal basis: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).

We do not use this website to profile you, we do not sell personal data, and we do not send marketing emails unless you have agreed to receive them.

3. Who we share data with

We share personal data only with service providers who process it on our instructions, and only what each needs:

  • GoCardless Ltd — Direct Debit payments. GoCardless is authorised by the FCA and acts as an independent controller for payment data; see their privacy notice at gocardless.com/privacy.
  • Partner repair engineers — if we arrange a repair at your home, we share your name, contact details, address, and appliance/fault details with the engineer carrying out the work.
  • Vercel Inc. — website hosting and server logs.
  • Resend — delivers form submissions to our team inbox (processed in the EU).
  • Professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires it.

4. International transfers

Some of our providers (such as Vercel) are US companies. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by UK-approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement/Addendum or an adequacy decision (including the UK–US Data Bridge where the provider is certified).

5. How long we keep information

  • Repair requests and enquiries: up to 24 months after our last contact with you, unless they become part of a customer record.
  • Customer/plan records: for the life of your plan plus 6 years (to meet legal, tax and contractual obligations).
  • Server logs: retained by our hosting provider for a short rolling period.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to our processing of it, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact info@protectyourigloo.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk · 0303 123 1113).

7. Children

This website and our services are for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We’ll post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change significantly affects you, we’ll tell you directly where we can.
